At the age of 18, Chemuturi joined the Hyderabad-based Electronics Corporation of India Limited as a Technical Assistant. The opportunity became one of the defining milestones of his life. For the next 19 years, he worked alongside highly skilled professionals in an organization engaged in the development and manufacture of advanced control systems, including those associated with nuclear power reactors.

For a young man who had come from a rural environment with limited educational exposure, ECIL opened an entirely new world.

While working, he attended evening classes to improve his professional prospects, eventually earning a degree in Industrial Engineering, an MBA and a Postgraduate Diploma in Computers. He was instrumental in implementing a Computer Aided Design (CAD) system to improve productivity in the critical design and preparation of engineering drawings. He stepped away from the corporate world and began his own consulting practice through Chemuturi Consultants. The transition represented another important chapter in a career that had already crossed technical, managerial and organizational boundaries. Consulting allowed him to apply decades of accumulated experience while continuing his engagement with the areas of technology and professional development that had shaped his life.

His technical books, he notes, are used as prescribed postgraduate reading in more than 65 universities across over 20 countries, based on information available on the internet.

The experience inspired him to keep learning and helped shape him both as a professional and as an individual. His time at TCS expanded his managerial perspective, while subsequent corporate roles broadened his experience further. Consulting then offered the freedom to apply his accumulated knowledge independently.

Along the way, certain personal qualities also played an important role. Chemuturi attributes his strong sense of hard work and responsibility partly to his father, who continued working his land until the age of 70. From his mother, he believes he inherited sensitivity and a sharp intellect.

He also developed an ability to read quickly and silently, which helped him absorb significant volumes of information. A keen habit of observation enabled him to learn from people and situations beyond his immediate responsibilities, while a strong memory helped him retain knowledge over long periods.

These qualities proved especially valuable in his work as an author and consultant. They demonstrate that expertise is rarely the result of a single qualification or opportunity. At 76, Chemuturi approaches the future with the wisdom of someone who has already experienced several professional lifetimes. He openly describes himself as being “over the hill” and focuses less on building ambitious long-term commitments than on completing meaningful short-term work.

Recently, he completed what may be his final book: a compilation of eight Geetha texts, including the Bhagavad Geetha, translated into English. The work reflects another dimension of his lifelong curiosity—one that extends beyond technology and management into literature and spiritual thought.

While he may not undertake another major long-term writing project, he remains open to offering his consultancy services when approached. Chemuturi Consultants remains a one-man operation, and he acknowledges that the company's future beyond him is uncertain.

Yet his perspective on the future is marked not by regret, but by realism and faith. Having witnessed unexpected turns and what he describes as miracles throughout his life, he does not rule out the possibility of new developments.
